biography

Blue 55 was formed when three musicians from very diverse backgrounds got together: a business owner, a mechanic, and a bricklayer.  Roger the bass player and Adrian the drummer go back a long ways.  Blue 55 was born in the fall of 2000 when Glen the guitarist came on thescene.  Roger and Adrian should have known they were in for trouble when Glen asked them to pay to play at his wife’s surprise birthday party on a boat cruise a few months later.  In the beginning it was just talk of a wild and crazy dream to take the money and run, as in let’s get some gigs and move on like the Blues Brothers.  Glen started to book some initial dates and the dream took off fromthere.  They’ve been playing in the greater Seattle area fairly steady since then, everything from Robert Johnson to Elvis Presley & Otis Redding, as well as original numbers.  Blue 55 is derived from Glen’s rickety ol’ blue ’55 GMC pickup that they use to haul their band gear.
